Introduction To This
Course:
We urge you to compare transcription courses available today. We are quite proud of the fact
that MTPractice is unique and innovative. Unique in that we offer you valuable practice in multiple specialties within the 'Basic Four'
work
types; and innovative in that you are learning multiple medical specialties while practicing
the work types! Practice DOES make perfect - with
MTPractice, that is!

 | The 'Basic Four' work 'types' we speak of are:
History and Physical Examinations, Consultations, Operative Reports (including Procedure Notes) and Discharge Summaries (including Psychiatric reports). In addition to the 'Basic Four' work types, MTPractice now offers
two supplemental (work type) modules: Tests, Biopsies, and Studies;
and/or Basic Medical Records-Clinic/ER Notes.
We also are pleased to make available to you our patented Productivity - Word Expansions & Spellchecker Module.

Each individual practice module contains complete reports dictated on standard-sized audiocassettes. We have created
for you a sample 'preferred format' template (A REPORT OUTLINE) and placed this on floppy
diskette for installation into your home computer Word program. These templates
were created and are suitable for Word (but can be used in Works if you so
desire). You can use this template over and over for practice, and
again and again later on in your career for your transcription work.
|
 |
We have also created and authored the MTPractice Detailed Report Instructions which tells you
"what goes where" in each of the report types and which you
use in conjunction with the pre-recorded MTPractice audiocassettes. Finally, we include a hard copy printout of each report in that specific module for comparison with your completed transcription.

 |
Each student receives a copy of the MTPractice Medical Transcription Reference Guide*.
All of our reports and instructions
are offered in a quality lie-flat binder for efficient, lay-flat reference. All reports are in accordance with accepted Medical Transcription and MTPractice standards.
* Your MTPractice Medical Transcription Reference Guide addresses basic medical transcription, report logs, punctuation, dosages, abbreviations, headers, AutoCorrect, dangling lines, addendum, spacing, symbols, hyphenation, capitalization, and many more valuable transcription 'pointers' - a must have style guide reference for your library!

At MTPractice, we have put a lot of thought into being comprehensive, timely, innovative and useful, and we have sincerely tried to meet the needs of EVERYONE. We created job-relevant training that can be purchased by individual module/work type only, as multiple work types/modules, as the entire set of modules including the transcriber, or as a
Medical Transcription Complete Certificate Course which includes everything as listed below**.
While we have worked to make this a comprehensive, accelerated, quick-study course, we were mindful to
not burden you with an overwhelming amount of practice dictations in each module - we have kept the practice to a nice number of varied reports with a workable amount of total practice transcription time. The rule of thumb in transcription is that the ratio of actual dictation to the time it takes to transcribe is 1:3. We also know that there are only 'so many' different reports and then in actuality, the reports just start repeating themselves with different patient names, etc., so MTPractice has provided you with a varied yet workable amount of hands-on practice on our cassettes.
We want you to teach you transcription, and have you learn and do well, and so we have given you this workable amount of transcription practice (with
what we feel are exceptionally interesting reports) combined with excellent textbook training in medical terminology and reference book usage.
We hope you will browse the links at the top of this page and see what each 'work type' module has to offer; click on a specific link for a description of that 'work type'; see what the entire set of Modules and Transcriber Only is comprised of, and then browse the link for the Complete* Medical Transcription Certificate Course.
