Please take a moment to peruse the Facts, questions and our solution below:

Fact:  Even in this computer age, Healthcare records (whether hospital or provider-generated) still require a written documentation of services and care administered in order to ensure safe continuity of care for the patients.

Fact:  As our population expands and more and more medical services are utilized, the doctor and his staff have little time left for in-house documentation of the patient's healthcare record.

Fact:  As healthcare premiums for in-house employees continue to rise, healthcare providers are naturally looking for ways to cut costs, thus utilizing the services of offsite-transcriptionists more and more often.

Fact:  Many healthcare providers including doctors, hospitals, specialists, and diagnosticians are actively searching for knowledgeable medical transcriptionists who can flexibly handle the work in the 'Basic Four' report work types to ease their staff transcription-requirements overload.

Fact:  Voice recognition programs will truly never be able to replace the quality, accuracy, and human cognitive skills which Professional Medical Transcriptionists possess.

Fact:  With our present economy and/or family needs, many are interested in working from home.  Medical Transcription is ideally suited to this interest!

Fact:  Our accelerated, self-guided training modules can teach you what you need to know.  We firmly believe that you can complete this course and BE a Medical Transcriptionist (M.T.) working in your own home or on-site in an office in six months or less!  We allow six months but this can be accomplished in four to five months following a set schedule.

QUESTION: What is OUTSOURCING?  ANSWER: Actually, there are TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF OUTSOURCING.  One type is when a provider of service sends their work outside of their location for transcription, i.e., to a local transcription service or individual transcriptionist here in the United States. The 'other' outsourcing is when the confidential dictation or files of a US patient is sent by a US provider 'overseas' to a 'foreign service'.  The latter is extremely detrimental to patient confidentiality issues and the economy from which the healthcare provider derives his income, in addition to creating needless time-consuming report mistakes.

QUESTION: Is outsourcing of transcription work to foreign (non-US) countries is giving Medical Transcription a 'bad name'? ANSWER:  A resounding NO!  Actually, quite frankly, much to the contrary.  Although we firmly believe that US work should be transcribed here in the country where the medical practice is located, foreign transcriptionists are doing such an 'awful' job, many clients are now quite adamant in demanding their patient's reports be transcribed ONLY here in the United States.  Additionally, many American colloquialisms and/or "Doctor-specific phraseologies" are quite easily misunderstood by outsourced non-US Transcriptionists and non-US Transcription Service Editors and thus, the reports do not accurately reflect what is being said  when transcribed by that outsourced (non-US) Transcriptionist. Unfortunately, and further confusing is the trend for a non-US Transcription Service to 'set up shop' here in our United States so that the healthcare providers 'assume' the work is being done here also. Distressingly, those many 'Services' who are intentionally located here in the US to route US-patient-related work overseas, oftentimes refuse to openly admit that they are doing so.  However, the quality of the returned reports from these "overseas" services tell the true story of this type of outsourcing. The disgrace is apparent when the non-US Service, located within the US for credibility, undercut the hardworking US (Professional) MTs in price wars and pay their non-US MTs in very, very minimal rupees, etc.   With a United States Medical Transcriptionist, healthcare providers are strictly assured and confident in knowing  their returned reports are accurate and HIPAA/confidentiality-bound, which is exceptionally helpful to the healthcare provider  given the stiff penalties imposed under HIPAA regulations for each infraction thereof.  Plus, as we all know, old adages are true (which is why they are old adages) - You DO get what you pay for!

OUR SOLUTION:

Due to the shortage of properly trained Medical Transcriptionists and the great interest in work-at-home/offsite employment, we authored the MTPractice Transcription Training Modules.  We found that employers are actively searching for medical transcriptionists who are knowledgeable and can flexibly handle the work in the 'Basic Four' report work types!!!  Our accelerated, self-guided training modules can teach you what you need to know.

BACKGROUND Prior to the creation of the MTPractice Medical Transcription Training Modules, most Medical Transcription training consisted of a few reference books and some accompanying (oftentimes unintelligible) audiocassette report dictations.  Sadly most, if not all, of the transcription courses still on the market today are training their students with these same outdated materials.  The MTPractice Training Modules were conceived and written as an answer to this.  Our modules are up-to-date with new content, modern to meet today's technology, and timely with the emphasis on 'work type' instruction.
